Meet the Team

HR Staff n’ Stuff  provide down to earth, practical advice and HR consulting services to businesses in Melbourne and across Australia. Established in 2008, we have helped hundreds of businesses improve their people management, retention, engagement, profitability and performance. More importantly, we provide practical and creative solutions to help managers and business owners struggling with people management and engagement issues.

Deborah Peppard, Director

After many years in senior management roles in leading international companies, in 2008 Deb founded HR Staff n’ Stuff with the vision of providing practical and down to earth HR advice and solutions to support to businesses in managing their people.  With her growing team, her passion for a common-sense approach to HR has proven successful with a wide range of industries as Deb helps cut through the overrated and complicated HR Stuff, assists businesses navigate their way through challenging situations and helps them build an engaged and successful team.

An accredited HR Coach, Deborah also has a track record as a global people manager, workshop facilitator, public speaker and business mentor. She delivers workshops for business and local councils, such as Monash and Maroondah, that are designed to fit the individual needs of the group.  Deborah provides sales and customer service training, runs a number of different DiSC workshops and is always excited by the opportunity to help businesses and their people. Leadership development is a particular passion due to understanding of the research that attests that 70% of people leave their boss, not their job. She makes it her mission to help grow better leaders!

Deborah wants to live in a world filled with puppies, baby goats in pyjamas, chocolate and free round the world airline tickets so she can continue to explore more of this big wide world with her wife and friends!


Danielle Stone - HR Professional

Danielle Stone - HR Professional at HR Staff n' Stuff
Danielle is a highly experienced HR Professional with more than 15 years’ experience advising clients nationally in a diverse range of private enterprises across the corporate and trade sectors.  Specialising in managing industrial relations and employee relations matters, Danielle has an outstanding reputation for partnering with her clients to achieve the best outcomes for their business. Danielle has a particular passion and talent for advising and assisting with reviewing and improving organisational structure to streamline efficiencies, productivity and profitability for businesses.  

Danielle has held national HR Management and talent acquisition roles and has comprehensive experience in recruitment, advising on Modern Awards, EBAs, Change Management, OH&S and Strategic Human Resources Management.  She is also an accredited Workplace Drug and Alcohol tester.

Danielle’s focus is to survive the early childhood parenting years with her sanity intact!  She is keen on continuing to indulge her love of attending a wide range of bands and muso gigs and travels when she can as she continues exploring the world with her family.  She is also the go to lady if you are wanting to know where to purchase the best Vietnamese pork rolls!


Kirsty Smith - HR Professional

Leading the way in our Perth office, ​Kirsty has spent over 20 years in a range of senior operations roles in the fast paced fashion sector. Kirsty’s comprehensive experience across all facets of wholesale, retail and warehousing and distribution means she has been engaged on every level and across all disciplines at some point during her time in Senior Ops roles. 
​
From bricks and mortar retail, to ecommerce support functions including customer service and design & content, to buying and product development, Human Resource Management, all the way through to managing distribution centres, she has a proven track record of achieving successful commercial outcomes as well as extensive effective employee performance, management and engagement. Key to her success has been her strong knowledge and skill in employee relations.  

Kirsty loves a good project! She has been engaged in the development and improvement of organisational initiatives as well as the implementation of large digital transformation projects providing systems solutions across finance & accounting, inventory management, purchasing, sales, shipping & distribution and supply chain management, POS and Omnichannel retail, payroll, workforce scheduling and time & attendance.  Her specialist project management skills make this one of Kirsty’s areas of speciality when working with client businesses. 

Kirsty spends a lot of her down time learning about sustainable business practices and initiatives and crafting her skills in all things food and the arts. She always has some little project on the go, cross-stitch, weaving, knitting, baking, preserving or knife-making to name a few. Her family time is consumed by weekends spent with her partner, daughter and their two fur-babies, Billy Baxter the Schnoodle and Finnigan the Lab x Staffy.

Sophie Evans - HR Professional

Sophie Evans - HR Professional at HR Staff n' Stuff
Sophie has honed her skills in business and people management with 30 years spent across intensive and demanding photographic retail and production businesses, managing and leading a variety of effective and well regarded teams.  She is highly accomplished in all areas of people management and HR, including recruitment, coaching, training, team building, performance management, issues management, investigation and conflict resolution.  Sophie’s experience and knowledge is practical, hands-on and professional sprinkled with humour, and she is very outcome driven with a can-do positive attitude to achieve the best results for her clients. 

Sophie’s speciality expertise lies in creating highly engaged and productive teams and training and developing new leaders, and she is also our resident expert in Lean and 5S processes, allowing her to help our clients with identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies (and save time and money) in their businesses as well as helping them build capacity in their people leadership skills.  Her extensive experience in production and manufacturing also provides her with added insight and knowledge.

Sophie begrudgingly accepts that enjoying the finer things in life means she needs to work it off at the gym but she does fantasise about guilt free wine! She also loves a good dress up event (where wine is present) where she can preen and strut her newest outfit creation! She can also be found loudly and passionately barracking for the mighty Tiges!


Susan Humphries - HR Professional

Susan made the decision to move into a consulting role with HR Staff n’ Stuff so she could support a range of businesses to improve their people management processes and better understand their employer obligations. She is excited that the breadth and depth of her experience can assist our clients’ businesses’.

Providing both strategic and operational human resources support and guidance to all levels of business, Susan is experienced in managing the employee life cycle from recruitment, onboarding and induction, performance and development, rewards and recognition through to succession planning and talent mapping. As part of a leadership team, Susan was responsible for employee relations and performance management processes, including management and/or oversight of investigations.   She also assisted with the implementation of employee health and wellbeing programs.

Susan is experienced in the development of high functioning teams and is highly regarded for her hands-on, professional yet down-to-earth style. A values driven professional, Susan is interested in organisational culture, the employee experience and the connection between employee engagement and productivity while also encouraging diversity and inclusion through respect and compassion.

She is also happy when assisting clients with ensuring they understand their obligations and helping them manage a range of employee issues and the challenges they face. 

When not at work, Susan can often be found celebrating life with her husband, family and friends… and a glass of wine.  She loves a good weekend away in their camper exploring the sights and tastes of Victoria or simply just the pages of a good book.  Susan dreams of a world where the only thing that’s infectious is laughter and you can only be killed by kindness!


Jacqui Antoniou - HR Advisor & Recruitment Specialist

​After a long career in retail store and area management, followed by a foray into managing wholesale and customer service departments, Jacqui made the leap into HR Consulting so she could focus wholly on what she loves, which is helping businesses look after their people and understand their employer obligations and industry best practice.

Bringing a vast range of knowledge in people management, customer service, recruitment, issues management and general wholesaling processes, Jacqui loves to share her experience and skills with our clients to help them with their general HR and business operations. Particularly adept at really digging into the detail, Jacqui’s passions are assisting clients with employment contracts, recruitment, pay and award issues & enquires and undertaking investigations into all manner of things. 

Jacqui dreams of a world where a big LOTTO win appears, and in the meantime, one where peak hour traffic disappears! When not doing awesome HR stuff, she loves spending time with family and kicking on at the occasional dance party (occasional because you know, she’s old now)…. and grooving to dance music (forgive us, we know this is an area of grave concern but we hired her anyway!)


Kari McCormack - Marketing & Communications

With over 20 years of experience in the fast paced, highly intensive film industry before moving to the completely unrelated natural therapies field, Kari fits the HR Staff n’ Stuff philosophy of having a no nonsense approach to all facets of marketing.  Kari’s experience in strategic planning and execution of integrated marketing and media campaigns of all shapes and sizes, has resulted in an extremely experienced and adaptable marketing and communications professional.

Kari’s focus on the positive combined with a strong understanding of business culture and practices, results in the delivery of considered marketing solutions for HR Staff n’ Stuff and our clients.

Kari hopes they find the cure for aging so she can continue to play netball without needing to apply ice to her old knees.  Deb hopes that Kari finds a new sport entirely after watching Kari break bones, tear tendons and scrape knees! Kari also dreams of a future that contains calorie free potato chips that taste awesome!
