Stage 4 in Victoria – An Overview as explained by HR Staff n' Stuff

Premier Daniel Andrews has today announced the changes that will impact workplaces as part of Stage 4 restrictions in Victoria.  More details will be announced as the week progresses but we have the following overview of the current information.

Workplace Categories

There are three categories that will define how businesses will be impacted over the next six weeks:
  1. Businesses that will remain open and not affected
  • Supermarkets/Grocery Stores
  • Bottle shops
  • Pharmacies
  • Petrol stations
  • Banks
  • News agencies
  • Post Offices
  • Everyone involved in Victoria’s pandemic response – hospital workers, police and so forth.

    2.   Businesses that will close – comes into effect from 11:59pm Wednesday, 5 August
  • Retail – those that can, will move to an online model.
  • Some manufacturing
  • Some administrative businesses

   3.   Businesses that are open but operating at a significantly reduced capacity
  • Meat works/Abbattoirs – moving to two thirds production with significant safety protocols in place including temperature checking, full PPE including gowns and face shileds, ongoing virus testing.
  • Construction will be considered as three sectors
    • Large scale government projects – many of these have already been reduced and there are plans to reduce the workforce further for the period of stage 4.
    • Very large commercial building -this is for sites above three stories and will involve the requirement to reduce the on site workforce to be reduced to 25%.
    • Residential construction – only five workers on site at any given time.

Specific detail can be found here with a full outline of industry sectors and the category allocation for each.  This is a comprehensive document and there may be changes as details are fine tuned as stated by the Premier during today's Press Conference.  If you have any questions as to your obligations and the impact to your business, please contact the HR Staff n' Stuff team as soon as possible.

The HR Staff n’ Stuff team will continue to be available for you and your team throughout Stage 4.  We will be unable to attend on site but we will be readily accessible via phone, email or Zoom.  We will also continue to update you on changes as they are announced and the finer detail is made public.
